



School and dormitory
The Mostviertler Bildungshof is a boarding school.
Half of the 200 students are residents, that means they live in the boarding house from Monday to Friday. There is no tuition fee, for board and lodging the amount is € 273,10

The Dormitory
The dormitory consists of 30 rooms en-suite. Up to 3 students live in one room.
Spare time activities

The school is equipped with a football ground, a beach-volleyball field, facilities for running and all kinds of athletics. For indoor activities snooker tables, tennis tables, a fitness room, a gym, a sauna and for relaxing TV-sets and a lounge is offered.
The Education
The school is provided with modern classrooms and three IT-suites with 16 computers each.
Multimedia projectors and computers are installed in each classroom.
The curriculum is divided in theoretical lessons and a practical training programme.


The Modular School System
The curriculum is based on a modular system.
Module 1 - Basic Training
This module lasts two years and provides basic and general knowledge. It replaces the last (9th) year of compulsory schooling and the compulsory vocational education.
Module 2 - Special Training
This module lasts one year - including work experience. Specialized knowledge, management training and professional skills are the prime aim. Students graduate with the “Mittlere Reife- or “Intermediate Degree- which enables to decide for further education and replaces the examination in apprenticeship in Farming & Agriculture.
Module 3 - Training for Entrpreneurs
This module includes 500 lessons of education and enables the students to get the master diploma.
Special Branches of the school:
Giesshuebl offers two branches of education - the Technical Agricultural Training and the Home Management Training.

The Technical Agricultural Training
The classical agricultural education is divided into practical and theoretical subjects and supplies the students with skills in Plant production, Animal husbandry, Forestry, Farm machinery, Fruit growing and processing, Constructing, Economics, Management, English, Computers and general knowledge.

The special fields of the school are:
- Pig Farming (feeding, husbandry, breeding, marketing, animal health)
- Fruit Wine Production (fruit growing and processing, producing fruit wine, liqueurs, vinegar,...)

The Centre for Piggery at Giesshuebl:
The refocussing of the Agricultural School Giesshuebl culminated in the 2001 decision to build a centre for piggery.
Three self-employed farmers run this state-af-the-art production centre, which also serves the school`s training and research needs.

The Home Management Training
The basic training in Home Management is divided into practical and theoretical subjects such as Home Management, Cooking, Gardening, Sewing, Textile handicraft, Arts and Craft, Economics, Management and general knowledge.


The special training in Module 2 is focused on Social Services.
In the final year the students get - if attended the required work experience - the certificates in nursery-assistant, child-minder, kindergarten-assistant, family-assistant and office-worker in medical affairs.
